There are a number of good sites that provide information on food storage and safety, but I like this one because it is so easy to use.  Simply type the food or beverage into the search blank and choose one of the options given to find out more about the expiration dates.  (I haven’t had any luck with brand names, so stick to the basics–”eggs,” etc…)  According to the site, the information comes from the FDA, universities, nonprofits involved in food safety and food manufacturers.
