“World Economic Indicators”, printed before in book form from the World Bank provides great statistical information on the world.  Now provided as an e-book, it lists information about people, the environment, economy, states and markets, and shows global links. Most of the tables list the statistics by country and year. Some of the tables provide historical information as well.

This link provides an archive of the books going back to 2005. The full pdf is provided for the 2010 and forward books. The 2005 – 2009 editions are in table form.

Paying for College is a new website from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It helps students calculate on a worksheet how much they would owe in student loans after graduating from college. A cost comparison guide on 7,500 different colleges and universities is provided. Estimated debt after going to school is listed. Average Grants and Scholarships are calculated into the price. Information on graduation and student loan default rates are also mentioned.

County Health Rankings program is a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The site ranks county statistics for morbidity and mortality for the United States.

To use the site, a map is available on the beginning page. Click on the state, then county. All the counties in the state are listed, along with their ranking within the state. Click on the compare counties button to get the actual statistical listings for the state and counties. The statistics included are health, social and economic factors, along with physical environment and clinical care. They are listed by percentage and number.

This report, provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, gives statistics about teenage pregnancy in the United States. The pregnancy rate is listed by state, age, race and ethnic groups.

Restaurants in different cities are listed, including those in New Orleans, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Memphis restaurants are well represented and include everything from “Chez Phillippe” to “Automatic Slim’s”. Each restaurant includes the address, the chef, some recipes, and where they are located.

Khan Academy is a library of learning videos. It includes over 3,000 videos covering such topics as “K-12 math, science topics such as biology, chemistry, and physics, and even reaches into the humanities with playlists on finance and history” from the site. Each video allows you to work at your own pace. Practice exercises and assessments are included. Videos are around 10 minutes each and are geared towards watching on the computer.

The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System is provided by the Department of Justice and the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators to protect consumers trying to purchase a vehicle. The site shows important information about a vehicle’s history, including title data, the brand history, the odomotor reading, the total loss history, and salvage history. Used car buying tips, along with a glossary and FAQ’s are also included.

The Healthcare Blue Book website allows you to look at fair prices for health care in your area. Searches dealing with the cost of surgical and non-surgical hospital procedures, routine doctor tests,  lab tests, x-rays, cosmetic surgery, and even dental costs are included. Many other health care costs are also listed and a cost by zip code can be found.

This site from the Missouri Census Data Center, is another way to look up 2010, 2000, and 1990 Census information.  On the opening page, click on what state you are looking for on the left side. Then choose your county, place (city), census tract, or zip code to look up on the right side. Choose which census demographic table you would like to use (1990, 2000, 2010). The table will come up with comparison figures and provide lots of demographic information. A wealth of information is included on the site.
